Thanksgiving Feast will be held this Tuesday, November 18. Students should wear dress clothes with safe comfortable shoes. Jeans and sneakers are not to be worn. Uniforms may be worn. The cost for the feast is $3.00 per student. Please send this in by tomorrow in an envelope with student's name and Thanksgiving Feast. Please also send in food for the parish food bank. Thank you for your generosity.

 

Book Club orders will come home this week. Two different book clubs will be offered.

Payment for each book club should be made payable to the club from which you are ordering. I cannot accept checks made payable to school. Return orders by Friday, November 22. Thank you.

 

Math Facts-Please begin to help your child memorize addition facts with sums to 12.

Quick recall of the basic facts will help your child be able to explore the higher level thinking skills used in problem solving. Dice games, flashcards, playing cards, quizzing each other while in the car, and computer games can make learning these facts fun. Students will benefit from learning addition patterns such: as adding 1 increases the sum by 1, zero in addition, turn-around facts, and doubles.

ILA-This week we will read Who Works Here?, a selection about community workers.

Students will continue to learn about the CVCe pattern with long i, and will begin to read words with the digraphs wh- ch-, and the trigraphs-tch. 

 

Recycling-Please save and send into school clean 2 liter soda bottles with the labels removed. These will be used for a special December project. Extra bottles are welcome since not all families drink soda. Thank you.

HOMEWORK

Monday-Bring in $3.00 for feast and food for the food bank. Wear nice clothes.

Reading-Make and practice new word cards. Review last week's vocabulary. Read/initial RAN sheet.

Spelling-Write words 2X.

Math/Language Arts-Study number words (one-twelve) for test on Thursday. Students will need to read and recognize, but not spell these words. Students will be asked to match the word to the correct number of objects.

  

Tuesday-

Reading-Review word cards and RAN sheet.

Word Sort-Cut apart, sort and record by writing words in folder. Read words after

sorting to check their placement.

Math-Worksheet.

 

Wednesday-Wear gym clothes for class on Thursday.

Reading-Read Who Works Here? Read/initial RAN sheet.

ILA-Study number words for test on Thursday.

 

Thursday-Library books may be returned on Friday or Monday.

Spelling-Study for test on Friday.
